I bet that it was more of a privacy thing to paint their windows black. It kind of reminded me of some of the recollections of my Grandmother when I interviewed her for my World War II project. She said that they were required to paint their windows black. But in this case, it seems like they willingly painted their windows black so that they could have a tad bit of privacy from the outside world.

I don't think that everyone painted their windows black. However, most likely, a large percentage of them did. It seems that under the Taliban rule, everyone was sort of paranoid; they knew that people were watching, and they felt that painting their windows black would help them to attain at least a little privacy and protection.

I think they painted their windows black because that was probably the only privicy that they could get. Also it could be because since Latifa's family had videos and things that if the Taliban saw them they would be in a lot of trouble.

Unless the families during this time wanted to be seen, shot, and killed at night, I think they would have wanted to paint the windows of their houses black. Therefore, I think that many of the houses took part in the painting of their house windows. The families knew that the taliban were just waiting to pounce and punish them for every little thing that they thought was wrong. Painting the windows black made it just a little bit harder for the taliban to see them at night in their houses.

I don't think that every single house painted their windows black, but there were most likely a very high number of them that did. This simple act of painting ones windows gave its inhabitiants a well needed feeling of privacy, not to mention saftey.

I think that they painted their windows black so that they felt more protected. The black would make them have more privacy and would act as a shield between them and the Taliban. It probably gave them more of a leeway into doing things that were illegal, like listening to the radio or watching the movies. The black windows would allow them more privacy to do what they wanted to do with less fear of the Taliban.

I think most of the houses painted their windows black because they feared the taliban. When they painted their houses black it was an opportunity to hide from the Taliban , so they wouldnt get punished for anything they were doing in their house. It also provided people a chance to do things that were illegal such as watching videos. In their houses they would also get some privacy so people would feel safe in their houses.

I think that although not everyone did paint their windows black,it was a common practice. Many people feared the Taliban and wanted to keep hidden so there was no reason for them to be attacked. ANother reason could be that they were hiding illegal activities and didnt want to be caught.
